Hey, Jeff, long time no comment. Glad to have you back, which I am sure I said back when you first came back.
Did you ever post KBCO Studio C, Vol. 19? If you did, I probably have it.
I am listening to Snuffy now. I like it; really crisp. Too bad he can fall into Narada/Windham Hill territory too often.
  • You know, I'm pretty sure we ran that KBCO series before 19 came out -- but then my mom got me that volume for Christmas last year, so I've got the whole set. Thanks for asking!

Snuffy has his low points, but "Music By..." is some nice dinner music. I tacked his "Friday Night Lights" theme onto my copy.

Studio C volume 19 came out on December 1 last year--I was standing in line waiting to purchase it for an hour and a half on the coldest morning of the year. Which was an improvement from the two and a half hours I normally spend in line. But I can pretty much count on the coldest morning of the year being on the first Saturday in December. :)

They were up on eBay by the time I got home from the store, which was approximately seven minutes after I got my two copies.

I like that Mike Errico. Has a nice, slow-burn introspection to it. Reminds me a bit of "Photograph" from Richard Julian.

You have a soft spot for this kinda stuff.
  • I do indeed. There's something about Errico's stuff that keeps me at arm's length, but he's certainly very talented.
  • Ra-OOOOOOL, Ra-OOOOOOL, Ra-OOOOOL and the kings of Spain!

I love Tears for Fears. Even their mediocre records.
  • I think "Secrets" and "God's Mistake" are the best cuts from that record, but alas, Winamp didn't call them up this week. Maybe later...
  • I'm fond of "Me and My Big Ideas," myself.
  • Jerry
I vote for "Sketches of Pain". Love that record.
  • I haven't heard "Raul Julia Is the King of Pain," but I'll add that when I checked out "Elemental" from the library two years ago I was really impressed. I'd liked "Break It Down Again" since it came out in '93, but I didn't know the rest of the album it came from would be so sturdy as well. I ended up buying a used copy a few weeks ago.
  • Alright, something from "Dirt Farmer"!
IMHO the 2nd best album of last year.
  • You cannot go wrong with Levon.

    Can. Not.
  • TVGuide.com sez that Nick Lowe is scheduled guest for the David Letterman show Friday -- that's tonight. In case anyone is interested. I hope their information is correct (it is not always 100%). I will take a look. That was a very helpful and informative guide to Nick Lowe that appeared here recently.

Nice Friday mixtape selection today, BTW. I had been wanting to hear a sample of the Levon Helm myself. @DavidMedsker -- yep, I'm a big Tears for Fears fan too. God's Mistake, yep that's the best one from Raul, but I like most of the other cuts too.
  • Thanks for the tip, Eric -- I have Letterman Season Passed on my TiVo, but it's nice to have something special to look forward to anyway...

I love Snuffy. His music for My So Called Life is probably my favorite, and I love the "Thirtysomething Revisited" track on the Music By album.
  • Jordu is one of my favorite Real Book tunes to play. Nice choice.
  • Stan AND Chet -- how can you lose?
  • FreeAgent
Thanks for the Foster and Lloyd and Joe Jackson!

You know, I'm notorious for my diversity, but even I've never put together a mix that featured Robyn Hitchcock 'n' the Egyptians back to back with Heavy D and the Boyz...
  • He's the overweight lover!
