  • A lot of great songs Jeff, and "Patriot's Heart" by AMC is one that not enough people have heard. It's one of my favorite songs of the last few years.
  • Thanks, Ken -- and happy Fourth!
  • "I hope that you take a moment to think about what you can do to shape a country we love, shape its future. Loving your country shouldn't just mean watching fireworks on the Fourth of July."

Seriously? No version of Dave Alvin's "4th of July"? Not the stark Dave Alvin version, the laid back back Robert Earl Keen Version, or the best one, the version by X after Dave Alvin left but they went ahead and recorded the song anyway because it kicked so much ass? The version by X is on 1987's "See How We Are" which is otherwise only an okay record.
  • First thing I was wondering about as well...
  • Hmm . . . a lot of these songs seem to be about America. Weird coincidence ? Very cool, though.

Whitney Houston also did a killer version America The Beautiful. FYI.
  • Wow. Nobody can strangle an electric guitar like Neil Young. I love it.

Randy Newman. What can you say? Does that song define the concept of damning with faint praise, or what? Good old Randy, he can rip both sides a new one in the same song. Shades here of Sigmund Freud's Impersonation of Albert Einstein in America.

    America, America
    Step out into the light
You're the best dream man has ever dreamed
And may all your Christmases be white

Happy fourth. Don't blow off any of your parts.

That Mark O’Connor - The Star-Spangled Banner is ANNOYING! Gimme Jimi.
