Have always loved that Jude Cole song.
  • Same here! I love most of that album, actually. I wish he still released albums.

I meant to add a comment when you placed that Del Amitri guide last week or so...but I just joined a Massachusetts power pop band that plays originals and covers, including a handful of Del Amitri, and last practice I brought "Baby It's Tonight "to learn and it went over great with the trio!

Take a look a Jude Cole's MySpace page
(http://www.myspace.com/judecole), Lately he's been adding older songs from demos for his albums and such. He changes tunes on his player about every week and makes them available for download. There are rumors he's going to put another album, but he seems to be keeping busy on the production side (Lifehouse).

    Finally, some more Lost Causes!
  • All the unreleased stuff is at jefito.com!

THAT site is still around...? Is the slogan now, "This place is dead, anyway"? :-)

That track is really good. What's the story behind the Lost Causes, anyway? The beginning, the end? Might make for a good post. A peek into yer past, as it were.

That's so funny: "Baby, It's Tonight" just came up on my iPod yesterday. (Given that there are 14,500+ songs on there, this actually IS an accomplishment.)

I love that Outfield song. Those later albums weren't all winners, but the singles were still some damned fine ear candy.
  • So the Time's song is where the line "Gigolos get lonely too" in Louie Louie's "Sittin' in the Lap of Luxury" comes from. It's all coming together now, Jeff!
  • Kay Hanley is currently singing backup for Hannah Montana. That's just wrong. Should be the other way around, if anything. I haven't heard Baby Doll. I liked Cherry Marmalade a lot though.

It was great to hear Colin Moulding again. I've been neglecting my XTC CDs. It's a shame he's given up on the music thing, last I heard. If Paul McCartney were alive today, he'd be writing songs like My Bird Performs. ;-)

Wow, great mix this week! I love the Nonsuch album. People don't talk about that album very much. "My Bird Performs" and "Dear Madam Barnum" are great pop tunes, and "Humble Daisy" is one of my very favorite songs. Everything about it is perfect - the melody, the chord progression, the backup vocals. It sounds like a modern outtake from Pet Sounds or Smile.
  • Nonsuch is sublime.
  • Always loved the Outfield...Closer to Me being one of my main favorites...and of course the entire Play Deep album.

Jude Cole's Baby It's Tonight is a tune that I never get tired of hearing!

    Good stuff!
