I have a friend that only considers songs about him describing the Jersey Shore or plotting to escape the state to be "authentic" - "Worlds Apart", for all its differences from what's expected, gave me a new level of appreciation for the guy. This and "Streets Of Philadelphia" said to me that he wasn't going to regurgitate his former glories all his career (cough Stones cough).

I know the type. MAGIC is one of Springsteen's finest albums, ever, but the rest of the records he's done with him are uneven.

What's also amazing is the groups he worked with as a mixer. I think the sound of BLOOD SUGAR SEX MAGIK and SUPERUNKNOWN really helped the Chili Peppers and Soundgarden break through to the mainstream. Everyone may not agree, but I find that a good thing.

This is a great mix. I would have added something from Rage's BATTLE FOR LOS ANGELES, which captured that band at the height of their power, just before they fell apart.

I have mixed feelings about what he's done with the Boss.
