And Kenny did not move over to bass. He does both. Him and Joseph are picking up the bass together. It's about time you got some respect for this man. I've been a fan for over 44 years now ... Steve has always been the best plus so kind and sweet.

Billy was not let go … He is touring with his family in Australia right now. Considering the others at that time he was an Angel. Why do you think he still looks so good and can stay up with the youngins? He never got into the hard drugs ... Just a little Token and Kool-Aid, lol. And all of us that did that are still here and it didn't seem to hurt us at all.

Not sure what Steve Miller in the ole daze you are talking about regarding bad habits and behavior. In an old Crawdaddy article, Miller once said that "music is about 10% of what I do". I've loved him ever since. He's a carpenter, photographer, sailor, and painter. And a fantastic musician. I picked up his first album (Children of the Future) when I was seventeen, and loved it. I was into the "first" part of his career first. I'm still not enthused about some songs post "Joker" , but who am I to judge. I had a chance to meet him, and he was just a really nice guy to chat with. Props to Mr. Miller. And I want that new album!!!!!!

What a fabulous synopsis of one of the greatest American musicians. Anyone?

I enjoyed reading your history. Thanks.

Whatever happened to the McCartney/Miller song or jam from the Flaming Pie sessions that Miller talked of releasing in 1996? SMB was my first self-developed musical crush; I bought "Circle of Love" the first day it came out and it's been so long since I'd bothered to reconsider. By 1980 or so he'd left most of his bad habits and behavior behind. The guy did get up to some wild stuff when young, though. A lot of that just goes hand in hand with the times he lived through, but I agree, at this stage of his life he's a very nice, genuine man. I think he's finally getting the respect he deserves too, as the great musician he is, as new generations discover his incredible musical legacy. Rock on Stevie!

VH1 could do a warts & all “Behind the Music” on Steve, but only through the late 70's. Plus he is a control freak. But this is a down-to-earth, nice man with very few rock star pretensions. Don't believe me? Do a YouTube search of Steve Miller and Randy Johnson. You'll see what I mean.

Plus, as I said, he gets points from me alone from not screwing the people who should never be screwed. James Cotton went on many of his big tours during the 70s. So, for that matter, did former bandmate Boz Scaggs while he was still a struggling artist.

Selvin, not Slevin.

Also: Yes, he comes off as smug and self-congratulatory at times, which can put people off.
