I'm a big fan and last year travelled to Buffalo to see Ian and the Bump Band. We didn't realize 'til we got home, that his show was the 2nd anniversary of my travelling companion's wife's death in a car accident. We knew that Ian had lost Kim in 2006. The timing wasn't eerie, just poignant. The show was wonderful, and Ian took all kinds of time to chat and sign stuff afterwards. My God, to pay only $17 US for such a legend.....Thanks for a great interview. I love "Never Say Never" too.

Since it's Ian's birthday today (and mine tomorrow!) I thought I'd look up an interview. I merely noted what he said. Since he played with Dylan, I think he can be given credit for some insight into the songs.

You will notice that it's part of Ian's answer, meaning that I didn't make it up. As Dylan said in the recent Rolling Stone interview, "where do people come up with this stuff?"

On playing with Dylan: “That was the song about Reagan, “Jokerman.” “

Song about Reagan?!! I really need to dig into some Faces in the near future; I don't know nearly as much of their material as I really ought to.

BTW, when I interviewed Billy Bragg a few months back, he said that, even after all this time, he still has those moments where he looks over at Ian McLagan and thinks, “My God, I cannot believe I’m playing with the guy from the Faces.”

Excellent interview, Ken.
