    Jeff, I'm curious – I know you've said before that there's no logic to these mixes, other than shuffling through your massive hard drive. Which, at 3 zillion tetrabytes, probably has a little chaff amidst the wheat. That said, do these tracks come with any recommendation in general? I mean, do you cherry pick what lives in your collection to any extent, or is it just a great big pile o' music?

    I probably don't do as much cherry-picking as I should, no. The tapes are compiled by setting Winamp on “Never Played,” hitting shuffle, and letting it run for a few hours (or days), then going through the “Recently Played” list and picking stuff that catches my eye for whatever reason. There are usually a few songs I love on each mixtape, a few I don't love or not love, and a few I've never heard…
