Ah, Mr Big! I really enjoyed “Lean Into It”, but then, I'm a girl. A friend of mine introduced me to the band (literally) when he came in to LosAngeles and we flew up to San Francisco to interview the band before a show. It was when “lean Into It” was pretty big (so to speak). I recall seeing a huge Makita drill “cut out” behind them during the soundcheck. My friend interviewed them and we left, didn't stay for the show. Did I mention the interview was for a Japanese tv show (in Japan)? Surprise! Mr Big was supposed to be the next Journey, according to their manager, Herbie Herbert, Journey's ex-manager. Anyway, I haven't heard any other album of theirs since “Lean into it”, but those songs still come up in rotation on my iPod.

Even though I haven't touched a guitar in years, I believe I could pick one up right now and still play the solo from this song. Great little piece.

“Addicted to that Rush” was awesome. It's a shame that track and several other decent things they did (“Green-Tinted Sixties Mind” was cool, too) are relegated to the Hair Nation channel instead of being classic rock radio staples.

On paper, Mr Big was a metal-head's wet dream with Billy Sheehan on bass and Paul Gilbert on guitar.

But, they never really reached their potential.

Of course, I was going into this as a huge Paul Gilbert / Racer X fan, so I was expecting something a little different (adding to the Paul Gilber YouTube fest...)
