On the other hand, unlike their summer series, TNT is competing against the big 4 networks to get viewers (on Monday nights, "Trust Me" will be against "CSI: Miami"). The clock thing was lame, yes, but as a writer and a viewer, I do appreciate how much TNT gets behind their original series and promotes the shit out of them.

I agree that TNT went a little overboard with its promotion. But TNT really needs to tone down trying to build up excitement for their new season. A clock ticker to countdown the seconds until the new "Closer" comes on? And I was totally sick of the promo for "Trust Me" by the time the show aired. And, PLEASE don't show us a shot from the last 5 minutes of "The Closer" in the promo that will give away the ending. (The cancer victim up against the blood splatter pattern.) TNT should have more sense than that.

I agree that "Will & Grace" wore out their welcome well before the series ended (probably the episode featuring Jack Black as a doctor ended it for me). But I don't think "Ed" jumped the shark until the last episode with the crazy abandoned wedding thing. I think "Ed" would have wrapped up better if the whole series had turned out to have been a novel that Carol had written about her days in small town Stuckyville. Last shot of the series - Carol in her New York apartment, typing on a computer and obviously finishing up something. She then calls her old friend Molly, who still lives in Stuckyville, to tell her she has just finished her latest novel. Ed comes into the shot and gives Carol a hug around the neck and the screen fades to black as Carol and Molly girl talk.

I watched “Trust Me” tonight and thought it was pretty good.
