It never took itself that seriously, it was funny, romantic, and dramatic when it had to be, with just a little bit of campyness thrown in on the side. The chemistry between the leads was magic, for the lack of a better word. They all made you believe that they were the characters they were playing. The most amazing discovery of watching this show was finding the talents of a 22 year old Kyle Schmid. He made us all believe that he was a 450 year old vampire at the tender age of 22, he also made us feel sympathy for something/someone we would typically consider the devil.

The ONLY problem with this show was that it ended to soon, due to the lack of foresight and stupidity on lifetime network's part. This show came out BEFORE Twilight, BEFORE Moonlight, and BEFORE Vampire Diaries. The books were written before Buffy and Angel. The show was a victim of bad timing and a lack of intelligence on the part of one network who was ahead of the curb and refused to take advantage of the fact.

As Kyle said: You'll be begging for more, crying for less and wishing that you'd never met us. How truly sad those words became later, only for totally different reasons. Blood Ties fans STILL miss the show and would love a movie to tie up loose ends. Heck we'd even forgive lifetime their transgressions if they gave us a Movie of the Week, but so far I haven't seen any flying monkeys and that would most likely have to happen before they'd admit a mistake on their part.

RUN, do not walk to the video store, don't rent these videos, BUY THEM. They're the best. The only problem is that there aren't any more episodes.

This was a fantastic show for the limited budget it was given.
