I worked as an extra on thirtysomething in the 3rd or 4th season….Any chance of getting any dvd's for those seasons? And does anybody know which season it was that Patricia Wettig had contracted cancer??? (I'm the one pushing the gurney)….lol….And if you're reading this Mel…..HIYA!!! Not that I would expect you to remember me….I worked for uno casting every now and then…..It was a lot of fun…..Thanks for the memories…….Gary

I was 21 when this show first aired, but I loved it right from the beginning. Though I wasn't in the same position as the characters on the show, they were so easy to relate to, so well done, that they spoke to a lot of people. Besides, if I were only willing to watch shows about people going through whatever I was going through at that point in my life, I wouldn't have much to watch, and I'd miss some amazing TV.

I'm enjoying watching this show on DVD. Used to watch it on repeat on Lifetime, and thought I had seen it enough that I would never be interested again. But it's been years since I've seen it, and now that I've been through some of the issues the character are addressing, it's interesting to look at from a new perspective. Odd to think that I'm older now than they were then. Sniff. They all look so young.

My wife and I are watching the DVD of Thirtysomething, too. However, we're getting it on Netflix and have only watched two discs. The pilot was a clunker, and the later episodes have Hope kind of fixated on a “I will NOT be like my mother!” attitude. But overall, it's great to see Thirtysomething again.

One thing: if ABC loved Herskovitz and Zwick's pitch so much (and presumably were big fans of the show), why did ABC cancel the series before they could wrap up the major story arc? In the late '80s/early '90s ABC seemed to green light interesting and innovative shows like Thrirtysomething or Twin Peaks only to cut them just as things were getting interesting. Bastards!

I'd only seen a couple during its initial run. The Hitchcock episode is really well done. Throughout the hour the only music used is from Hitch's films. Furthermore, the writers and director really captured the pacing and mood of one of the master's suspense films. It's not perfect (how could t be), but it's fun.

Interesting you should say that as I was in my late teens and early 20's when the show aired and I am just about to leave my 30's now that the box set has been released. There was a part of me that initially thought, I can't relate to these people anymore because a) The show takes place in the late 80's when I wasn't an adult then and b) I am no longer really a “thirtysomethng.” But by that 4th episode, “Couples,” those thoughts were gone.
