Hope Heather Locker’s return can save Melrose Place….this show has been great so far. I couldn’t believe it when I read on Perez Hilton that the ratings are taking a big dive which is so stupid because this show is just getting better…so come on people stop being so LAME! I was so glad they had Taryn Manning guest star in last week’s episode – love her! She even pulled a gun on Jonah as they played the Boomkat song “Run Boy” – it was so great. Bring Taryn back for more episodes and let’s make Heather a full-time, permanent cast member again!

Thing is, the CW/WB/UPN had shows with substance and they chose to take them off the air.

Anyone who says they won't watch a specific television network because it would make their brain explode is a drama queen. Watching the CW only makes me feel LIKE my brain will explode.

I find it funny, however, that the CW is pitching its tent in that spent ground. Sure, it worked for Fox and it probably will work for the former WB. People like watching nasty things happen to young, attractive people, but even Fox Attitude reached a tipping point and they had to start cultivating shows that had more substance...

I'm hoping it won't be before too long that the same happens for the upstart.

You're right about Michael Rady and "Swingtown." I suck.

I think you're right on both counts, Jill, as to why these two shows are back on the air. What better way to boost ratings for a struggling "network" than to revamp two very popular shows that are still in heavy rotation on cable channels? But II don't just blame the execs at the CW. Look at NBC with two or three "Law & Orders" and CBS with three "CSI's" and now two "NCIS" shows. The big networks are dependent on ratings and advertising dollars and therefore it's more difficult for small, original content to get on the air. I don't think you'd ever see a "Mad Men" or "Rescue Me" on NBC or ABC. Most of the risks the big 4 (and the CW) tank in the ratings, scaring off execs.

That's the way I see it.

I also really enjoyed the pilot of Melrose Place. I love Michael Rady and his character is great. But, he wasn't one of the swingers on Swingtown. He was the high school summer school teacher having a relationship with his student, the daughter of the main swinging couple. By the way, Swingtown was a really great show and I'm disappointed it was not renewed.

The "lesbian kiss" was not completely gratuitous. It makes Katie Cassidy's character's alibi questionable. You're right it was a big deal in the original.

I wonder why 90210 and Melrose Place are back. Is it just that TV execs now were the original viewers of these shows and feel nostalgic or is it just lack of creativity?
