I love Nick Lowe’s music and I’m thrilled that he’s decided to age gracefully, but still — every time he releases a new album, I can’t help but hope he’s left room for a few uptempo numbers. I don’t need him to rock like he did in his Basher days, but I don’t think he’s too old to work up a bit of a sweat once in awhile. Happily, he seems to agree; last night on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, he stopped by to debut a new number, “Tokyo Bay,” that rocks as hard as anything he’s done since the mid ’90s. Which is to say it doesn’t rock, really, so much as it casually struts, but you know what? Nobody struts casually like Nick Lowe. Nobody.

Watch the clip below and see if you don’t agree. And pick up a copy of Nick’s latest record, the marvelous The Old Magic, for the absolutely asinine price of $5.49 at Amazon.
