I think Kid Stuff Records did a number of picture discs, (I think I may have one or two of the Strawberry Shortcake ones.) so it's very likely they did one of this one too. But actually this picture is taken directly off the side of the videogame cabinet as shown here:

My money is on the theme's tempo change being directly influenced by the one in the video game. Kid Stuff Records had some low quality standards, but a glitch in the mastering process with the original tapes sounds even more irresponsible than they were capable of.

As for this recasting of Kong, look. It's perfectly understandable. Whenever I'm misunderstood and feeling put-upon, I batter my family and friends with bone crushing barrels too. Doesn't everyone?

HAW! I get it! Actually, that scenario calls to mind the old Pizza Inn mascot. (This makes two Way Out Wednesday comments from me involving pizza chains in just over a month. Think I know what's for dinner tonight.)

Is it just me, or does the cover layout suggest there was a picture disc edition?
