If you're an alcoholic you shouldn't put yourself in that situation

I don't get why the band took the gig last week in friggin' Abu Dhabi.. they don't need the money. what's there to do on a 20-hr flight but drink, esp if you're a rock star in 1st class the temptation will be too great. Fuck Playboy/Playgirl...we had ROLLING STONE!

I was maybe 13 or 15 in the Rocks/Toys days and was always so proud that I lived close enough to Aerosmith's home base to call them "MY home boys". I echo every sentiment in this article, GREAT job! I was just talking to my boyfriend the other day about exactly this and how utterly disappointed I am with the "home boys"...I even went so far as to say, "They were better when they were messed up!" Which is a ridiculous thing to say but honestly, it doesn't get much better than Toys In The Attic.

I played the record hundreds of times a day. I had a rock collection rain down on my turntable one Saturday afternoon as I was playing it and remember the loud thud/crack on the record. *GASP*!!! Oh no!! I cried for DAYS...I kept listening and it had this HUGE skip in it during Round and Round and it annoyed my mom so much she had to go out and shell out her hard earned cash for another copy. I still have the one with the gouge in it though. And, to this day, when I hear that song, my mind plays that skip in my head at just the right moment.

Aerosmith, to me, always seemed like "Brand Tyler". What part of his brand does he think people don't get? Unless he's going for a makeover. Looking at an online seating chart, my friends and I sat in Section 101. At some point during Aerosmith's set, Joe Perry sprinted down a ramp and up the aisle near our seats. And he just blazed a guitar solo a few feet from where we stood. What an introduction to the world of live rock 'n' roll! And I remember Steven Tyler dancing too close to the edge of the stage and slipping off. But rather than suffering a tour-ending injury, a security guard caught his fall and pushed Tyler back on stage where he just kept right on singing. That's a pro.

Did I enjoy Aerosmith 2.0? You bet. But having heard some '70s-era Aerosmith bootlegs, I must proclaim that to have been one ferocious beast. One I'm sad to say will never breathe again.

My first concert was Aerosmith at the World Music Theater, summer of 1993 with Megadeth opening. Oh well, I scored back stage passes and hung out with the band during the tour that supported "Pee-annnnkkkk!" and although I despised their new music when it was time to play Toys in the Attic I was front and center having a man-crush on Joe Perry's playing.
As far as their sound, yeah I think the album with two Trucks fucking was the end of them. I don't dislike Eat the rich or anything comparable, but it has nothing on Train Kept a Rolling, Sweet Emotions, or Mama Kin.

I was staying at the in-laws this weekend and a commercial for this came up. <a

While nowhere near Rocks level, Pump still was the last Aerosmith album one could remotely consider great and not be beaten for it. Still, Aerosmith is Tyler and Perry and even if they hate each other's guts, they're stuck. Ask Mick & Keith.

The suspicion is that neither member is exactly tee-totaling these days. In recent paparazzi shots of Perry signing autographs, he's lugging a pen with one hand and a beer with the other. We could give him the benefit of doubt as assume it was near-beer but, come on. Do you honestly buy that? If it's in a bottle, in the hand of a member of Aerosmith, it ain't O'Douls. At the same time, Tyler's stage falls, dazed photographs and a sudden propensity for slurring most of his nouns and verbs hardly paints him as the penitent one.

It's the '80s again and the Toxic Twins are fighting. The more things change...

One thing is certain: a Tyler-less Aerosmith would fail without mercy, and I am an avowed basher of the band's post-Pump efforts. (And this is coming from someone who graduated high school in '79, so Aerosmith hit its peak right about the same time I did. I spent years thinking they'd manage to become relevant again... but sadly, no.

"Dream On" took the top of my head off back in the day, though. I'm pretty sure I still have the 45 somewhere. (You know what "45" means, right? ;) )

You totally nailed it.
