This time, I actually made a note of author Jason Hare. By reading the comments and occasional guest-posts in the series entitled “Adventures Through the Mines of Mellow Gold” and the aforementioned “Chart Attack!”, I encountered the work of “Jefito”, which I assumed was another example of the shockingly-sizable contingent of Americans that still respond to nicknames offered them during the OJ Simpson trial. (Kid you not – I’ve met dudes who still go by “Cato” and “Oaj”, so what the hell, right?) Well, I was wrong on that one. “Jefito” is Jeff Giles, whose clever writings appeared on a site called Popdose, which I’d seen before, thanks to my good friend (and Tweedster) Paul The Geek. I later discovered that both Hare and Giles have sizable back-catalogues of reviews and articles on their new home, including the damn-why-I-didn’t-I-think-of-that brilliance of a series about bizarre musical comebacks entitled “You Again?” [...]

[...] Of course, there was – within a few seconds, I struck (mellow) gold. He has such an incredibly wide range of music styles, from the 80s Winger, to today's Winger, new album by Blackwood Creek,to his classical symphony "Ghosts" which is being presented at with the Tuscon Symphony Orchestra in November, and by the San Francisco Ballet. If you listen to the words that he writes, he doesn't write nonsense but from the soul and heart. Reb Beach is a guitar GOD, he's a maniac on Karma. I agree with a poster above who said that Witness is one of the best Winger songs, if not THE best, ever.

To you living room "rock gods" out there who think you are so wonderful and so talented, really? What have you written lately? Are you making a living at your "rock god-ness" or just someone who is jealous and can't get past playing for your friends dreaming that you're a superstar?

The thing is, Kip doesn't apologize to anyone for his choices. He does what he does, he has an extremely loyal fan base who supports all his endeavors. I saw Winger a year ago in Denver, Colorado and they rocked the house. Reb, John and Rod are still amazing and worth every CD sale and concert ticket out there.

Kip Winger is one of the most accomplished, talented musicians out there.
