Popdose and Ultimate Classic Rock are offering you and a guest the chance to win a pair of 4-day passes, complete with car camping privileges, to Mountain Jam 2013, featuring Phil Lesh & Friends, Gov’t Mule and a host of other notable rock, Americana, and jam bands.
June 6-9 is the date, and the Hunter Mountain ski resort in Hunter, New York, is the place (and unlike the weather right now, we expect it will actually be warm by then). Tickets are on sale now at the festival’s official site. Gov’t Mule guitarist and Mountain Jam co-presenter Warren Haynes explains the appeal of the festival, which he’s been involved with for each of its nine years, very simply: ”We cater to people that really take music seriously.”
So who are you getting if you go to this festival? Aside from former Dead-man Phil Lesh and band, you’ll have Gov’t Mule with noted guitarist (and Allman Bros. member) Haynes, Widespread Panic, Primus coming off their Green Naugahyde tour, Dispatch, Gary Clark Jr., Soulive with the Shady Horns, Jackie Greene, Deer Tick, ALO, Rubblebucket, the Amy Helm Band, Nicki Bluhm & The Gramblers, the Revivalists, David Wax Museum and Simo. The Lumineers have just signed on to perform as well.
And thankfully, you can save yourself from the usual “frozen pizzas and stale pretzels” dining found at most of these outdoor festivals. Mountain Jam is calling in some of New York’s finer mobile food vendors who regularly blow the standard “street meat” sellers out of the water.
Special car-side camping — part of this prize package — allows you to drive right to your camping spot, no hauling of gear required…and this is an exclusive to the winner, as the car-camping option is sold out from purchasing options. If you want it, this is how you can get it!
For your chance to win a pair of 4-day passes for Mountain Jam 2013, simply follow @ultclassicrock and @popdose on Twitter and re-tweet the announcement of the giveaway by noon Eastern Standard Time on Saturday, March 2, 2013. We’ll choose a winner at random. Good luck!
