This fifth release (hence, titled Moistboyz 5) from Pennsylvania’s Moistboyz (featuring Ween’s Mickey Melchiondo as Mickey Moist) has a great, straightforward ROCK-ness to it. From the opening track “Protect And Serve”, which reminded me of The Nuge, circa Free For All, to “Hanging By A Thread” to “Down On The Farm” – this being the first three songs – I felt a warm familiarity – my youth and no-bullshit rock music. Not metallic; not punky – just pure rock. And that’s a good thing. Singer Guy Heller (Dickie Moist) is a fine vocalist and makes these songs work well. “Paperboy”, “High And Mighty”, “Medusa”… there are 12 meaty cuts on this album and they’re all quality prime rock. Great sounding production from Melchiondo; an all-around excellent delivery.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
