Friday Five : |ˈfrÄ«dÄ – fÄ«v| : On the sixth day of every week, I hit the shuffle button in iTunes and share the first five tracks and thought for each track. Sometimes there is a playlist involved, occasionally we’ll have a guest, but most of the time it’s just me. The rest is up to you, our friends and readers! Fire up the media player of your choice and share the first five random track of your shuffle in the comments.
The Five:
“Good Intentions” by Toad the Wet Sprocket (from In Light Syrup, 1995)
Well hello there, fellow shuffle-addicts, welcome to this week’s Friday Five, brought to you this week via the limited library stored on my iPhone.
I had the good fortune to catch Toad back in August; before launching into “Good Intentions,” Glen shared a funny anecdote about the song’s association with Friends (the song was original featured on the show’s soundtrack) and it’s “strange” video, featuring Courtney Cox.
“Subtraction” by Coheed and Cambria (from The Afterman: Ascension, 2012)
This record (and it’s companion, The Afterman: Descension) has not left my iPhone since its release two years ago.
“Say Goodbye” by Beck (from Morning Phase, 2014)
I’ve (admittedly) slept on Beck since the turn of the century. He just slipped through the cracks. This record, though … man oh man.
“Sleep Walk” by Joe Satriani (from The Complete Studio Recordings (disc 9: Strange Beautiful Music), 2014)
Satch plays Santo & Johnny, beauty ensues.
“Promise # 324,567” by Alex Dezen (from 3/4, 2014)
In case you hadn’t noticed, there is an abundance of current releases in this shuffle. These Alex Dezen EPs are among my favorites.
What’s on your shuffle today?
