And now… a few words about this powerful and funny show.
The HBO series “Divorce” does not pull any punches. With a title like that, how could it? And with Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church at the center of this, at times, messy uncoupling, the series offers viewers an unvarnished look at the way in which relationships fray and sometimes snap. “Divorce” was created by Sharon Horgan (creator and star of the Emmy-nominated series “Catastrophe”), and it centers on Frances (Parker), who, after more than a decade of marriage and two children, reassess her life and her relationship with her husband Robert (Church).
The first season finds the couple grappling with the fallout of their failed marriage — and how its affects their kids, their friends, and their careers ambitions. Over the course of 10-episodes, we see the couple try marriage counseling, struggle with post-relationship parenting, and finding ways to navigate awkward public encounters. Though the series is full of heated emotions, there are many humorous moments throughout “Divorce” to temper the tale of two people going through one of the most difficult times in their lives.
In addition to Sarah Jessica Parker and Thomas Haden Church, the cast includes Molly Shannon, Talia Balsam, Tracy Letts, Sterling Jerins, and Charlie Kilgore.
