This June, a group of four excellent singer-songwriters will launch a small tour of the East Coast under the name ”The Parlor Sessions” (dates below). To promote the tour, they’ve put out a free 12-song sampler — three tracks from each artist — that can be downloaded here.
I’ve written about one of the participants, Jason Myles Goss, here at Popdose before. His album, Radio Dial, was one of my favorite albums of 2012. I said that songs like ”Home,” ”Black Lights” and ”Hospital Shirt” put him in ”the same continuum of literate, acoustic-driven singer-songwriters that includes not only [Josh] Ritter, but also Paul Simon, Jackson Browne, and Lucinda Williams.”
I’m pleased to report that the other three men involved in the tour are also exceptionally talented. Dean Fields has a little of the pedal steel twang of Ryan Adams. Andy Zipf’s tenor vocals and reverb-heavy production offers a modern take on 70s AM soft-rock. The fourth member is Eliot Bronson, who has won songwriting Contest at MerleFest and Eddie Owen Presents.
Please download the sampler — because how can you turn down free music? — and, if you like the music and live anywhere near where they’re playing, go and see them. This way, the tour will be successful and they’ll be able to book a night in my town.
