What better way to celebrate Black Friday than with a dark, apocalyptic indie movie like the critically acclaimed, Bellfower. Released in theaters over the summer, this wildly praised, microbudgeted sensation has roared onto Blu-ray and DVD (man, we should write for the PR companies– a jest!). Written and directed by newcomer, Evan Glodell, the film was shown at last year’s Sundance festival and quickly purchased by Beastie Boy, Adam Yauch’s company, Oscilloscope Laboratories.

Here’s a synopsis:

Best friends Woodrow (Glodell– man, this guy does it all) and Aiden (Tyler Dawson)  spend all of their free time building MAD MAX-inspired flamethrowers and muscle cars in preparation for a global apocalypse.  But when Woodrow meets a charismatic young woman (Jessie Wiseman) and falls hard in love, he and Aiden quickly integrate into a new group of friends, setting off on a journey of love and hate, betrayal, infidelity, and extreme violence more devastating and fiery than any of their apocalyptic fantasies.
