Sorry, everybody. Due to other commitments, Leslie Liberatore will not be providing the Song for the Soundtrack of Your Date (No Date) Tonight this week. However, she asked me to fill her suede, knee-high stiletto platform boots, which I am honored to do, but I’ll admit I needed some help in remembering what a date is. Here goes…
Song for the Soundtrack of Your Date Tonight:
You knew there was something special about her. So much so that you made that long walk across the bar, which you never do. A couple of drinks, a lot of laughs, and her number’s in your phone. A call a few days later and she’s still interested. It wasn’t the booze. You’re set. One last look in the mirror. Hair? Good. Shirt? Not bad but you wore your favorite the night you met. A quick rinse with some mouthwash and you’re out the door. Just remember: Lighten up. Swing, baby.

That e-mail is a reminder that you still haven’t RSVP’d to your best friend’s happy hour, even though it’s starting in a few hours at a bar across town. Check the Evite to see who else will be there…Three couples you know, OK. That’s good. His college buddy that you got trashed with at his wedding. Even better. And she’s coming. With a +1. And now you know your plans. “Sorry, man,” you type. “Wish I could be there. Have a great time!”
