Fate is a mistress who works in mysterious ways. Two near-perfect major label records produced by Butch Vig didn’t catapult Against Me! into mega stardom, but a life-changing journey into gender liberation did. Now, their self-produced, self-released tour de force, Transgender Dysphoria Blues, has landed on the Billboard 200 at #23. The band recently played David Letterman and lead singer Laura Jane Grace has been featured in Rolling Stone, SPIN, NPR, NME and this week’s revelatory Reddit discussion. For this scrappy young bunch of rock ‘n rollers, everything is finally coming up Reinvented Axl Roses.

Need a taste? Here is the album’s cathartic closer, ‘Black Me Out’:

You want even more?

If you live in the US and have waited this long to get your hands on a copy of the album, today might be your lucky day. We’re sitting on a copy signed by Laura Jane Grace, James Bowman, Atom Willard and Inge Johansson. It can be yours — all you have to do is e-mail the subject line “Transgender Dysphoria Blues” to me here: keithatpopdose@yahoo.com

One winner will be drawn a week from today (Friday the 14th, February 2014 at 11:14 PM — PST).

If you miss the contest — get your mitts on one at your local record store or Amazon or check out all the vinyl options and bundles at the official Against Me! Store.

Here’s hoping Against Me! will be booked to play on Saturday Night Live and The Colbert Report before they jet to Europe (I assume that’s next). Perhaps I’ll start a facebook petition unless one of you beats me to it…
