“But it’s not like Christmas at all…”
Literally, not at all. In large portions of North America the weather feels more like early-April than mid-December. Lots of people are out in the stores, buying holiday gifts as usual, but there’s an uneasy heaviness about them…even the happy ones. 2016 was one of the heaviest, most chaotic, most divisive years the United States has experienced, regardless of political persuasion. People just seem really, really tired, and deeply concerned that the abnormality of 2016 is only the first impression of new norms.
Next week we may present some holiday tunes…Maybe. At this moment, however, it does not feel like Christmas at all and therefore a holiday playlist simply seems inappropriate. We hope that what we have provided brings a little lightness nonetheless.
When You Were Young – The Killers
When We Escape – Minus The Bear
Eenie Meenie Minie Moe – The J. Geils Band
The Time To Love – Josie And The Pussycats
Everybody Plays The Fool – The Main Ingredient
I’m Your Boogie Man – KC and the Sunshine Band
She’ll Surprise You – Arms And Legs (Joe Jackson)
It Could Be the Fever – Le Roux
