Bootleg City: AC/DC in Boston, August ‘78

Did that sound screamy enough? Be honest. Okay, lemme try it again …

Uhh-aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!!!!!!! Yep, that’s the one. I’ll stick with that one.

Bootleg City is back! Or, rather, you’re back in Bootleg City. (You sure did skip town in a hurry last year. Now where’s that $5,000 you still owe us?) So open yer yaps, boyos, and prepare to take in AC/DC’s “Live in Concert” bootleg, taken from an August 21, 1978, performance at Boston’s Paradise Theatre that was broadcast on WBCN. At one point the disc jockey refers to the Australian hard rock band’s lead singer as “Bon Tyler” instead of Bon Scott. Mr. DJ, stop dreaming about Boston’s pride and joy, Aerosmith! But it’s not like he could dream about Steven Tyler’s movie-star daughter Liv instead — in the summer of ‘78 she was only 13 months old.

    Just got a copy of this and really love it. Always heard about this show and recording is real good will be a nice addition to my AC/DC collection. Made sure to make a copy as well as on Media player so I will have it forever...awesome recording! If you would like a copy we can work something out....maybe?

    Man, remember the days when you could hear great concerts on the radio? I found out about bands like AC/DC, The Police, Cheap Trick via such on-air concerts. Sure, we have the internet these days, giving us the ability to seek our favorite music...but there was just nothing like having great music come to us.

    I actually taped this back when it was live broadcasted on WBCN... and wore out the tape by the late 80's. Hearing it again is like slipping into a favorite old pair of jeans. You made my day!!

    I noticed the intro to "Gone Shootin'" is at the end of "Sin City"... but the track didn't make this post. Hate to be greedy... but is there any chance of posting that one, too.

    Oh, never mind that request for "Gone Shootin'" - it's listed as "Don't Shoot Me". My bad!
  • What's the actual title of the song? I went by the back cover of a CD bootleg I found online. I'm not an AC/DC fan, so I didn't know any of the song titles beforehand.

    It's "Gone Shootin'"... and at about the 8 minute mark it segues into "Bad Boy Boogie". Boy - I haven't been much of an AC/DC fan myself for the past 15-20 years... but this is some REALLY GREAT stuff. Thanks again!
