Earlier this week, Popdose ranked the Best 25 albums of 2025 so far… and well, we left the 25th slot open to leave room for what’s coming next. Perfect timing for the world premiere of ‘Pieces’, the latest single from NYC’s NOSHOWS. Last we checked in with NOSHOWS‘ singer, guitarist, and tireless mental health advocate Max Satow, was in September of last year, you know, that simpler time when Kamala, Democracy, and Society itself still stood a chance. To that end, Max’s new single, and first release since his breakthrough Tightrope EP, could not be more well timed for the moment we live in now.

“‘Pieces’ explores themes of mind control and resisting the forces that try to break you,” says director Brielle Brown, who helmed the track’s music video. “While scouting locations, my cinematographer, Kenny Price, and I wanted to find a place that truly captured the feeling of being trapped in your own mind—what a better choice than the actual filming location for the Apple TV+ show Severance. I reached out to Bell Works, and fortunately, we were granted full access to shoot there. The staff was incredibly accommodating, and if you’re a fan of the show, you’ll definitely recognize the tower* from the exterior shots.”

The new single is a darker, edgier, louder track than some of the epic, pop leaning work that first made us huge NOSHOWS fans. So we asked Max if this is the direction he’s heading in 2025 and beyond. “Yes, the next crop of songs will definitely be swerving even harder into the high-energy and edgy direction,” he tells us. “It ventures further into my love for guitar-centric left-field pop rock and psychedelic music with a quirky twist.”

Producer Marc Swersky (Joe Cocker, Gedeon Luke) helped Max break on through to the darker side for this song. “Max is an incredible guitarist and musician, and in today’s landscape, seeing an artist sing and shred simultaneously is a breath of fresh air,” Marc said. “I see how his fans—and those hearing him for the first time—react to those moments, and I thought, let’s get at it and bring it to the forefront. ‘Pieces’ does exactly that!”

As for what’s next, Max adds, “Expect groovy riffs, colorful instrumental passages, wavy synths, catchy melodies and a deeper exploration into my anxious mind. The next body of work will be an EP of similar length.”

*Turns out, you don’t have to be a rock star to have an immersive Severance and/or NOSHOWS experience, the facility’s address, hours, and event schedule are available on the Bell Labs official website
