You could call Marty Casey a bit of a double agent of rock and roll. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in finance. Even as he took up a career working in real estate, he was also building a separate musical story with the Chicago area success of his band, the Lovehammers, who he began to write and record with in his teenage years.
In 2006, Casey found himself on the television show Rock Star: INXS where he quickly became a worldwide name, placing as a runner-up, which helped to fuel a major label recording contract with Epic Records and the Lovehammers were offered the opening slot on the INXS Switched On tour.
Casey made an important connection in those years, when he met Marti Frederiksen and they began to work on songs together. Through the years, they’ve maintained that collaborative relationship and Frederiksen helped Casey to develop his songwriting style. In 2015, the pair began writing for Casey’s debut solo album. With the pending arrival of The Ground You Walk On, which will be released later this spring, Casey is officially embarking on the next phase of his musical journey.
”I had been playing with a band since I was a teenager,” Casey tells Popdose. “I wanted to spread my wings for a moment and record these songs that I had in my head for the last few years.”
Popdose is pleased to present the exclusive premiere of “She’s On A Roll,” his new music video.
