They may be one of the world’s biggest bands, but that doesn’t mean Metallica still doesn’t work outside the mainstream like they did when they were thrashers living out of their van and touring to make ends meet. So when it came time to make a concert film, Metallica decided to do something a little different. Because really, who wants to wants to watch closeups of Lars Urlich sweat for two hours.
Metallica hired filmmaker NimrÁ³d Antal (Predators, Kontroll) to help create a groundbreaking motion picture event. Metallica Through the Never is a feature film that combines live-performance footage of the band and a narrative starring Dane DeHaan (Chronicle, The Amazing Spider Man 2). As Metallica runs through a string of their most popular songs, the film intercuts with DeHaan portraying a roadie sent on an urgent mission.
Released in theaters last fall, Metallica Through the Never is now available to watch on digital formats, including SundanceNow. Popdose has one free code to giveaway to a lucky headbanging fan. Simply answer the question below to have yourself entered in the drawing.
