Dog Society In The ShadeYou might say a band is truly dedicated to its craft when it reemerges from retirement after 20 years, and, most amazingly, releases something that sounds completely current and vital. Now on its second LP after the reboot, Dog Society is still bringing out the Americana jams old fans will know and new fans will love.

New York boys, the new record, In the Shade, reunites them with the city that raised them. From recording tracks at the East Village’s FLUX Studios, to utilizing a Brooklyn brass band on “Our Own Parade” (premiered here for the first time!), it’s a psychedelic love letter home. Oh, you’ll hear the Beatles, and Cream and a sprinkling of Hendrix, but also spot-on Nirvana and Soundgarden. Honestly, it’s been a long time coming for this band, but Dog Society continues to prove that with experience comes perspective — and a perfect blend of gorgeous sounds.

Without further ado, take a listen to “Our Own Parade,” and don’t forget to look for In the Shade. It just might become your record of the summer.
