Tanner Patrick has two first names and looks like he fell out of an American Apparel catalog, so I’m sure a lot of you will want to hate him even before you sample the first pillowy strains of his new single, “Satellites.” But if you can move past your prejudices against artfully scruffy white dudes with perfect hair, you might appreciate how comfily Patrick snugs into the gap between shiny pop songsmiths like Andrew McMahon and Adam Young — and once you’ve listened to “Satellites” a time or three, you might find its adorably insistent chorus bouncing around your brain for the next few hours. When you’re ready for more, check out his just-released debut album, The Waiting Home.
