Zep-Off: Vote for the New Led Zeppelin Singer!

Last week, we here at Popdose unveiled a contest to determine who should replace Robert Plant as the lead singer of Led Zeppelin. We’ve slimmed the choices down to a field of our favorite twenty choices. The winner from last week’s submissions will take home a brand new copy of The Who at Kilburn: 1977. The losers will have to BUY THEIR OWN!  After the jump, submit your vote for the only contest that really matters today.

I'm officially throwing my support to the candidacy of Rip Taylor. C'mon, the man provides his own confetti!
  • Redbone in '08!
  • Shatner! Shatner! SHATNER!!!!!
  • although i backed Nordine in the primary, i had to go with mellow gold favorite McD. he's already EVERYwhere, why not Zep?

Here at Redbone '08 headquarters, we're very excited. With Shatner and Cher splitting the Camp Icon vote; Fagan and McDonald battling for the Steely Dan vote; and Anderson and DeYoung duking it out for the High-Pitched Prog-Rock Singer vote, our man Redbone is "On The Track" to come up the middle to victory!

Leon himself has no comment at this time, but from his campaign chair, he has given a small, almost imperceptible nod to his supporters If things go really well, he may even tip his hat.

Ken Nordine. Unsafe at any speed.

    But mostly slow. Nordine '08!

C'mon everyone! This may be Leif Garrett's last chance to get his cred back...
  • Where the hell is Fred Schneider? This thing is rigged!
  • Schneider was a great suggestion, but since Hughes made it, we had to leave it out. Same with Bolin's genius Wing nomination.

    Forget Fred, where's Juice Newton?

I still think William Hung would have given the whole idea the exact amount of dignity it merits...!

    It's "The Shat!"
  • And early polling seems to indicate that once you have Shatner in the voting booth, there ain't room for anyone else.
  • Wow, when I nominated Shat I had no idea people would go with it. The events of this week have gone a long way in restoring my faith in democracy.
  • Send me your address at jefito @ popdose . com, GFS -- there's a DVD with your name on it.

You have dead people on this ballot. I call shenanigans. And no Leona Lewis? She already performed with Jimmy at the Olympics!

Now I have to look up who some of these people are.
  • Oh, just go with Joanna Newsom. Imagine Jimmy Page using a violin bow on a harp, and the subsequent awesomeness that would result, and that should seal the deal for you.
  • Leona Lewis already is the new lead singer for Zeppelin. Why not? SHE'S EVERYWHERE...

For all you do, Leon, this vote's for you.
  • RLB
Voting for Fagen. Twice if I can get away with it.
  • No Tork love?

    Good.
  • jbacardi
Hell, I nominated Newsom, but had to go with the Shat. How could I not? You owe me, GrayFlannelSuit.

I feel good that 2 of mine got in the voting...hurt that neither picked up the votes needed to make the reunion more than just a one off money grab. I have Tork love and believe combining Moby Dick and Zilch would have been awesome. The Shat is fine but overplayed...Rip really would have been awesome. I also think Redbone would have been great.
