What should have been issued in 2016, on the 50th anniversary of its intital release, is now coming to life at the end of October. THE most important (and best) work The Beatles offered, Revolver is being give the boxset treatment and it’s quite a masterful undertaking.
As per Universal Music (the holder of Capitol/EMI’s recorded output of The Beatles) stated in the information about this presentation:
On October 28, UMC/Apple (using the old Parlophone name) will issue a 5 CD Revolver box with a brand new 2022 stereo mix by Giles Martin and Sam Okell. The first disc is the 2022 stereo remix; discs 2 & 3 are the “sessions”; CD 4 is a mono transfer of the album from the original tapes and the 5th CD is designed as a 45 p.m. E.P., of 4 extra tracks – in stereo and mono mixes – from the original 4-track tapes of the “Paperback Writer”/”Rain” single, which was recorded during the Revolver sessions.
The 4 LP vinyl “super deluxe” matches the content of the 5 CD set. The four-track E.P. is a seven-inch single in this edition. Both “super deluxe” sets include a 100-page hardcover book which showcases Klaus Voorman’s original artwork, features a foreword by Paul McCartney, chapters by Kevin Howlett and an essay by Questlove.
The other formats are a 2CD edition, a single vinyl LP, a single CD and a vinyl picture disc (D2C only). The 2CD set offers highlights from the sessions on the bonus CD, the new stereo remixes of ‘Paperback Writer’ and ‘Rain’ and a 40-page booklet.

*It’s well-documented that this is my favorite album of all-time by anyone. And while there are typical grievances about how this package deserved much more attention lavished on it and didn’t receive as much time, etc. as …Pepper’s… or Abbey Road, I’ll take this as a necessary addition to my Beatles collection. And hopefully, Rubber Soul will be next.
