Hero and Leander 600

UK upstarts, Hero and Leander, take a cue from the viral video masters, OK Go, on their debut single, “Collider,” out March 28th on German indie Tapete records. Instead of blowing their jackpot wad of an advance on a pricey video, they whipped out their iPhone and shot a surprisingly high quality video at 24 locations in and around London within 24 hours. Hats off to director/lead phone holder Catherine Williams.

The Heroes and Leanders (I assume this is a Downton Abbey reference) are Gary Cansell (vocals, guitar), Marc Sephton (guitar), James Halls (bass), Scot Lewis (drums), Andy Jones (piano, vocals) and the very lovely Emily Sills (vocals).

Hero and Leander

Just in time to soundtrack your summer, their debut album,Tumble, comes out on or around May 10th worldwide. Throw XTC, Saint Etienne, M83, The Zutons and Prefab Sprout in a picnic basket and you’re achingly close to their charming, upbeat sound.

Until then, connect with Hero & Leander on facebook.
