PP2BLluOne of the summer’s biggest films was Universal’s Pitch Perfect 2. The sequel to the surprise hit from 2012 won over audiences and critics. Elizabeth Banks, who not only appeared in the original, but was one of the film’s producers, stepped into the director role for Pitch Perfect 2.m Any fear that the novice feature film director wouldn’t be able to achieve the same kind of musical laughs as the  first film were quickly put to rest in the opening frames. Banks proved to be an accomplished director and has a bright future behind the camera.

In the film, Beca (Anna Kendrick), Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) and the Barden Bellas must recover from a scandal that threatens to derail their last year at college. The three-time defending champs worry that they’ve lost their harmony for good. With one chance left at redeeming their legacy, they must face off against the toughest competition on the planet: German super group Das Sound Machine, and fight for their right to win at the World Championships of A Cappella.

The original cast, which also includes Brittany Snow, Anna Camp, Alexis Knapp, Hana Mae Lee, Ester Dean, Skylar Astin and scene stealer Adam Devine, are all back for the second go around. Joining in on the fun this time are Hailee Steinfeld, David Cross, Katy Segal, and Keegan-Michael Key. Banks once again appears alongside John Michael Higgins as competition commentators, and the film features cameos from Reggie Watts, John Hodgman, Jason Jones, Joe Lo Truglio, Pentatonix and several members of the Green Bay Packers.
