I’ve seen this very talented singer/musician as part of the Big Star “3rd” touring group (and will be seeing her again next week for another 3rd/#1 Record performance).  She’s got quite an impressive resume:  the Big Star shows, playing with Chris Stamey and The Fellow Travellers, leader of Skylar Gudasz and The Ugly Girls, etc.) and this new single showcases her ability to be sultry on one side and rocking yet emotional on the other.

“Car Song” is a lazy, warm, summery song with a jazzy feel and is the perfect accompaniment to a ride on a sunny morning on an open road; “Dream Lover” is a lush rendition of the Big Star classic.  Both sides compliment one another and are executed perfectly.

This is one artist I look forward to hearing even more from as time goes by.  In the meantime, take a listen to both songs and savor them.
