I know I say “I write what I want to when I want to” and all, but still…apologies for the lack of recent music reviews lately. It’s just that, you know, the first couple weeks of January don’t tend to offer much in the way of new music — at least, this year, new music that I give a rat’s hairy sack about. Sorry, friends, but I don’t care about the new Strokes. Not even for you.

Lucky for all of us that next Tuesday offers a bumper crop of stuff I’m curious about, including (off the top of my head): Jenny Lewis, Duncan Sheik, Richard Julian, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, and the Subdudes. So we should be back to normal very shortly. So hey, in the meantime, I guess it would be cool if I let you guys know what I’m thinking in terms of a kinda-sorta schedule for this space:

Mondays: Floating day. I’m often prepping for the week’s Idiot’s Guide and don’t write anything, but I will when I can.
Tuesdays: The Idiot’s Guide. Coming Guides will focus on: Tom Waits, Bobby Womack, Shoes, Robert Palmer, Thomas Dolby, and The Smiths…among many others.
Wednesdays: New music reviews.
Thursdays: Cutouts Gone Wild!
Fridays: Bootleg City.

Monthly: CAPTAIN VIDEO!

Occasionally: The Great Gross-Off, The Cassingle Vault

This could all change at a moment’s notice, of course, but that’s how I see things shaping up for now. It’s actually going to be sort of a challenge to assemble 52 weeks of Idiot’s Guides. So, you know, suggestions and volunteers are always welcome.
