Friday Five : |ˈfrÄ«dā – fÄ«v| : On the sixth day of every week, I hit the shuffle button in iTunes and share the first five tracks and thought for each track. Sometimes there is a playlist involved, occasionally we’ll have a guest, but most of the time it’s just me. The rest is up to you, our friends and readers! Fire up the media player of your choice and share the first five random track of your shuffle in the comments.

The Five:

A very quick Friday Five this week, almost Twitter-style!

“Flight of the Wounded Bumblebee” by Extreme (from Take Us Alive, 2010)

Nuno Bettencourt is a monster.

“Life Goes On” by 2Pac (from All Eyez on Me (disc 1: Book 1), 1996)

As time wears on I become less and less enchanted with ‘Pac’s flow, and “Life Goes On” is a perfect example why. Musically, the production is paper-thin, and quite dated. Lyrically, it’s cheesy as hell.

“Christy Road (live)” by Green Day (from Longview, 1994)

One of my favorite Green Day tunes.

“Here Comes Your Man” by Pixies (from Death to the Pixies, 1997)

I don’t have nearly enough time to put into words the impact the Pixies have had on my musical life; suffice to say, it’s huge.

“Esse Quam Videri” by Mordred (from In This Life, 1991)

The whole “funk metal” thing happened way before anyone caught on.

What’s on your shuffle today?
